The port inked a letter of intent for 5G intelligent port application innovation cooperation with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), China Unicom Guangzhou branch and Huawei to form a research team and set up 5G intelligent port united application innovation workroom.

The four parties will jointly develop Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s first full automated terminal and 5G application demonstration project at the fourth phase of Nansha port area.

“As a leading global automated terminal solution provider, ZPMC will devote every effort to cooperate with Guangzhou port on the development and construction of this 5G intelligent port project,” said Zhu Lianyu, chairman of ZPMC.

The cooperation will be able to accelerate 5G intelligent port technology’s replication at domestic and global ports, according to Guangzhou Port.

Last year, Guangzhou port, China Unicom Guangzhou Branch, Guangzhou Xinyidai Communication and Network Innovation Research Institute and Huawei established cooperation to set up 5G innovation center for port development.
