A-E rate up 3.6pc to US$1,140/TEU, USWC off 0.6pc to $3,849/FEU

SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday rose 3.6 per cent to US$1,140 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean rates rose 5.1 per cent to $1,329 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai to US west coast fell 0.4 per cent to $3 849 per FEU while rates to the east coast increased 0.3 per cent to $4,625 per FEU.
