APM Terminals has expanded API offer and terminal coverage

MAERSK's APM Terminals has expanded the number of its API (application programming interface) and Data Services terminals to customers, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

"Reliable, real-time data is the key to meeting all of these requirements," said APMT digital customer services chief David Francis.
"APM Terminals' modern, industry-leading APIs enable our customers to pull real-time container status data from its Terminal Operating Systems, into their own internal ones - a Transport Management System for example," said Mr Francis.
An API removes the need to search for information manually through the company's existing track and trace channels. The new innovation of an API allows for a great solution for shipping lines, inland transporters, cargo owners, and managers.
"Most importantly, access to the latest data available in the supply chain improves planning and helps meet customer expectations," said Mr Francis.
The new API can provide a detailed log of events from the moment a container enters an APM terminal, to the point when it leaves through the rail, road, or vessel.
Data is currently available in Gothenburg, Vado, Los Angeles, Port Elizabeth, Mobile, Apapa, and Moin.
