THE Port of Hong Kong's annual 2020 container throughput declined 1.9 per cent year on year to 17.96 million TEU, according to the Marine Department.
The port's largest terminal, Kwai Tsing, enjoyed an uptick of 1.7 per cent year on year to 14.4 million TEU in 2020, but volume declined 14.2 per cent at other terminals to 3.5 million TEU.
The Port Hong Kong is one of the world's largest ports, capable of handling 456,000 vessels a year. In 2019, the port's container throughput hit 18.36 million TEU.
