The vessel crashed with the No 70 Yangming Wharf bridge crane leading to one worker being injured and another two trapped in the wreckage after the fall of the cranes. All three have been rescued, reports Container Newsw.

The vessel appears to have approached the port too close, according to the investigation by Kaohsiung Port Authority, which also indicated that despite repeated warnings by the traffic control the ship failed to respond.

Video footage showed that the crane appears to have destroyed a number of containers during its fall.

The cause of the accident is still unknown and investigations are continuing and initial estimated loss is said to be in the region of hundreds of millions, according to local reports.
