Volumes dip at major Chinese ports due to last month's Typhoon Yanhua

BOX volume at eight major Chinese ports declined 11.2 per cent in late July, as several ports temporarily shut down operations due to typhoon Yanhua, according to UK?™s Seatrade Maritime News.

Container export volumes dropped 12.3 per cent while the domestic volume also declined 8 per cent.
Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports declined 14.5 per cent year on year while the international trade cargo throughput dropped 13 per cent.
Crude oil shipments at major coastal ports slightly dropped 1.8 per cent year on year, while the port of Rizhao posted a substantial growth rate of over 90 per cent.
Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports declined 11.4 per cent while the port inventory increased 16.9 per cent.
In late July, the port throughput at three major Yangtze river ports - Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing - declined 6.9 per cent, while the container volume increased 8.5 per cent.
Affected by the typhoon and heavy rainfall in July, cargo throughput at major Chinese coastal ports declined 6.7 per cent year on year. The container volume at eight major ports dropped 1.1 per cent.
