Chartered from Fracht FWO, the 1,051-TEU Happy Rover docked at the port November 14, 2021, at its Racine Terminal, operated by Montreal Gateways Terminal Partnership.

The ship demonstrates the growing trade relationship that Montreal has with Asia, accounting for over 30 per cent of its cargo volumes.

"The first direct shipping line, without transshipment, between Asia and the Port of Montreal, demonstrates the fluidity of trade and the availability of our facilities in Montreal," said Montreal Port Authority vice president of growth and development Guillaume Brossard.

"The Port of Montreal is pleased to be able to count on the efficiency and strength of its key supply chain partners. As a strategic asset, our main role is to ensure optimal service for the benefit of North American businesses and citizens," said Mr Brossard.
