THE Marcopolo 188 barge has spilled in the waters of Karimun Regency, off Indonesia's Riau Islands, leaving 12 containers in the sea, reports London's Port Technology.

The barge was heading to Singapore from the Perawang Siak Container Terminal in Pekanbaru, pulled by the Indonesian-flagged tug Mega Daya 43.
According to the Head of Tanjungpinang National SAR Agency Office, Slamet Riyadi, the barge was suddenly hit by strong wind and was tilted 60 degrees as a result.
A dozen of containers have fallen into the sea following the incident. Riyadi confirmed that the barge has been moved and was moved to anchor in the waters of Karimun Anak.
