Quickly recovering from the most recent wave of Covid-19 pandemic and city-wide lockdown, the port of Shanghai has seen volumes bounce back to peak levels.

In July, Shanghai port was estimated to post a container throughput of 4.3m teu, an increase of 16% year-on-year, hitting a record high.
The average daily container handling volume is close to 140,000 teu, fully back to normal port operations. For the period January and July, the port’s container throughput is expected to achieve positive growth.

With large scale resumption of factory production in the Yangtze river delta, industrial output and the supply chain are both returning to normal levels. The optimised and consolidated multi-model transportation has provided secured logistics service for cargo, said SIPG.
Shanghai port is continuously expanding its inland network for sea-rail combined transportation which delivered high container volume during the first seven months of this year.
