THE 24,188-TEU OOCL Spain made its maiden call at the Port of Hamburg, docking at the Terminal Tollerort, the partially owned Cosco facility.

The 399.9 metre long ship is owned by Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) now a Cosco unit, and was built by Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering.

Her delivery ceremony was held earlier this year in February. She is known for her intelligent technology, and her makers believe she will be fuel efficient compared to other ships. American Bureau of Shipping honoured OOCL Spain with three Smart Ship Certificates.

Said Port of Hamburg Marketing CEO Axel Mattern: "The call by the OOCL Spain has cemented the trend for more and more megamax vessels to call at the Port of Hamburg. It is obviously crucial that we should maintain our waterway in good condition if we are to remain competitive."
