BANGLADESH prime minister Sheikh Hasina provided assurance that the appropriate authorities in Bangladesh will thoroughly review a proposal put forth by the Danish shipping and logistics powerhouse, Maersk Group, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The proposal pertains to the establishment and management of a novel container terminal at Laldia in Chittagong.
This affirmation from the prime minister transpired during a meeting at her office, where she was visited by Maersk Group CEO Robert Maersk Uggla, and the Danish Charges d'Affaires in Bangladesh, Andres Karlsen.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim provided a briefing to the press corps.
"Over 50 Danish companies are working in Bangladesh, and Maersk is now interested in building and operate APM terminal at Laldia," said prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
"India, Nepal, and Bhutan have been given opportunities to use these ports for mutual benefits."
