China Merchants launches world’s first methanol dual-fuel car carrier
China Merchants Heavy Industry has launched the world’s first 9,300 ceu methanol dual-fuel car carrier at its shipyard in Nantong, Jiangsu province.
Ordered by China Merchants Energy Transportation, the vessel represents a breakthrough for China Merchants Heavy Industry to construct large-size green and smart car carrier.
Measuring in 219.9 metres long and 37.7 metres wide, the vessel is equipped with methanol dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines, boiler and fuel supply system, is fully compliant with IMO Tier III emission standards. Upon the completion of sea trials, the vessel is expected to take official delivery in the second half of this year.
China Merchants Energy Transportation had ordered a total of six methanol dual-fuel car carriers at China Merchants Heavy Industry, which are scheduled to take delivery between 2025 and 2026.
