CSSC, China’s Maritime Safety Administration to advance marine sector

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and China’s Maritime Safety Administration have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for marine equipment and technology development.

According to the agreement, the two parties will jointly develop intelligent transportation equipment, high-end marine equipment, marine environmental protection technology, maritime policy and technical regulations research, international maritime affairs, marine safety equipment, and personnel training.
In the field of smart shipping, the two will cooperate on intelligent ships, intelligent traffic management systems, and intelligent detection and monitoring technologies.

In terms of marine environmental protection sector, they will jointly research and develop new energy-powered vessels, energy saving equipment and technology, promote LNG refilling infrastructure’s development and construction. 
Additionally, the two will work on effective measures to promote the healthy and stable development of shipping, marine equipment manufacture and relevant industries amid the unexpected public safety issues such as COVID-19.
In the first half of this year, CSSC received 73 new ships and marine equipment orders, totaling 5.35m tonnes, accounting for 30.4% of global orders.
