Greater Bay Area combined port programme launched

The Greater Bay Area combined port programme, jointly undertaken by China Merchants Group, Ping An Insurance, and local maritime and transportation authorities has been launched in Shunde port in Guangdong province.

The programme is a new infrastructure project integrating ports, customs, logistics, finance and enterprises together.
The first combined project of “Shekou-Shunde combined port” is aimed at greatly improving connection and communication between the two ports.

“China Merchants will continually to promote the development of a more efficient international shipping hub in Greater Bay area with lower costs, and to better service for Pearl river delta region,” said Miu Jianmin, chairman of China Merchants Group.
Additionally, the Greater Bay Area combined port program has launched logistics data standard platform for major ports locally and simplified cargo clearance process based on blockchain, big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other advanced technologies, which could optimize the environment for cross-border trading as well.
The combined port program is expected to be implemented at 37 ports in the Greater Bay Area.
