SHANGHAI's Zhonggu Logistics has announced plans to order up to eighteen 4,600-TEU for CNY4.5 billion (US$696 million) to add to fleet of 100 box ships it now has, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.

The company is going to sign firm order for 12 vessels as well as the option for another six of same type of vessels with undisclosed Chinese shipyard.
According to Zhonggu Logistics, the vessels will be delivered during two to four years.
Building of the new vessels will strengthen the company's position in domestic container shipping market, reduce ship operation costs, improve fleet efficiency and increase income, said Zhonggu Logistics, which was established in 2003.
