China still Germany's top trading partner in 2020 with 3pc hike

GERMANY's Federal Statistical Office says China remains the country's most important trading partner in 2020 for the fifth consecutive year.

Foreign trade turnover with China increased three per cent compared to 2019, with goods worth US$256.7 billion, reports Xinhua.
Germany's second largest trading partner was the Netherlands with an 8.7 per cent drop at $210.30 billion, and the US was the country’s third trading partner US with a 9.7 per cent drop at $208.84 billion.
Some $141.53 billion worth of goods were imported from China to Germany, an increase of 5.6 per cent. "The importance of China for German imports is growing steadily," said Germany's statistics office, Destatis.
Netherland imports fell 9.6 per cent while US imports were down five per cent. "The coronavirus crisis led to declines here," said Destatis.
The US remained Germany's biggest export market despite exports declining 12.5 per cent to $126.32 billion.
China ranked second for Germany's most vital export markets with a decrease of 0.1 per cent for $116.71 billion.
