Major Chinese ports container volume falls 6.3% in mid-Oct

Container volume at eight major Chinese ports declined 6.3% year on year in mid-October.

Export container volume dropped 3.3% while the domestic volume declined 14.2% in mid-October. Some of the ports shut operation temporarily due to bad weather.
Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports dropped 4.9% year on year while international trade cargo throughput also declined 3.1%.

Decreasing of crude oil shipments at major coastal ports further expanded to 14.4% year-on-year. Port inventory declined 13.3%.
Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports declined 10.5% while the port inventory increased 16.9%.
In mid-October, cargo throughput and container volume at three major Yangtze river ports, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing, dropped 21.2% and 3.1% year on year, respectively.
