Wan Hai pays US$109.5 million for 5,500-TEU Allegoria

WAN HAI Lines has purchased the 2006-built 5,500-TEU Allegoria from Danz und Tietjens Schiffahrtsgruppe for US$109.5 million, reports Singapore's Splash 247.

The purchase is 630 per cent or $94.5 million more compared to what the German owner paid in 2019. VesselsValue estimated the vessel at $91.8 million.
Wan Hai has been quite busy over the last year, adding secondhand boxship tonnage and ordering newbuilds, with the order book currently standing at 40 ships.
The company is currently the world's 11th largest liner with a 414,693 TEU capacity. It operates a fleet of 147 ships, 92 are owned.
Also, the company recently bought the 2,741-TEU Cape Magnus from Schoeller Holdings for $53 million.
