MSC leads top 50 ocean carriers ranked by container capacity

THE American Journal of Transportation has published a ranking of the top 50 biggest ocean carriers by TEU capacity in the world.

The top 10 include the 1) Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) with 650 ships totalling 4,337,384 TEU; 2) Maersk with 737 ships with 4,279,760 TEU; 3) CMA CGM with 578 ships of 3,274,775 TEU; 4) Cosco with 475 ships of 2,928,114 TEU, 5) Hapag-Lloyd with 246 ships of 1,741,980 TEU; 6) Ocean Network Express (ONE) with 209 ships of 1,526,937 TEU; 7) Evergreen with 200 ships of 1,504,564 TEU; 8) HMM with 76 ships of 820,520 TEU; 9) Yang Ming with 93 ships of 666,164 TEU and 10) and Zim with 125 ships of 451,855 TEU.
The top 20 include 11) Wan Hai Lines with 146 ships of 410,764 TEU; 12) Pacific International Line (PIL) with ships of 282,655 TEU; 13) KMTC with 68 ship of 156,995 TEU; 14) IRISL with 32 ships of 149,042 TEU; 15) X-Press Feeders Group with 95 ships of 145,615 TEU; 16) SITC with 97 ships of 144,133 TEU; 17) UniFeeder with 96 ships of 143,727 TEU; 18) Zhonggu Logistics with 96 ships with 111,362 TEU; 19) TS Lines with 55 ships of 111,142 TEU and 20) Sinokor Merchant Marine with 75 ship of 108,063 TEU.
The top 30 include 21) Antong Holdings (QASC) with 95 ships with 91,934 TEU; 22) Sea Lead Shipping with 23 ships with 87,180 TEU; 23) China United Lines (CULines) with 33 ships of 85,797 TEU; Regional Container Line (RCL) with 40 ships of 73,133 TEU 25) Matson with 29 ships of 68,563 TEU; 26) SM Line with 12 ships of 63,025 TEU; 27) Global Feeder Shipping with 20 ships of 62,390 TEU; 28) Emirates Shipping Line with 12 ships of 56,541 TEU; 29) Arkas Line / EMES with 32 ships of 53,049 TEU and 30) Swire Shipping with 26 ships of 50,028 TEU.
The top 40 include 31) Sinotrans with 32 ships of 45,642 TEU: 32) Interasia Line with 18 ships of 43,005 TEU; 33) Ningbo Ocean Shipping with 49 ships of 42,336 TEU; 34) Grimaldi (Napoli) with 37 ships of 39,638 TEU; 35) Samudera with 32 ships of 38,282 TEU; 36) Meratus with 54 ships of 35,390 TEU; 37) Shanghai Jin Jiang Shipping with 39 ships of 35,289 TEU; 38) Tanto Intim Line with 55 ships of 35,179 TEU; 39) Seaboard Marine with 22 ships of 34,582 TEU and 40) Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines with 45 ships of 31,331 TEU.
Also included in the top 50 are 41) Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines with 12 ships of 29,049 TEU; 42) Namsung Shipping with 25 ships of 28,166 TEU: 43) BAL Container Line with 7 ships of 22,290 TEU; 44) Great White Fleet with 12 ships of 22,274 TEU; 45) FESCO with 16 ships for 21,945 TEU; 46) Linea Messina with 8 ships of 20,940 TEU; 47) Temas Line with 32 ships of 17,431 TEU; 48) Crowley Liner Services with 15 ships of 17,047 TEU; 49) Tropical Shipping /TOTE Maritime with 20 ships of 16,835 TEU and 50) Turkon Line with 8 ships of 15,715 TEU.
