CONTECON Guayaquil SA (CGSA), International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI)'s terminal in Ecuador, has handled the largest vessel to ever call at the terminal.CGSA received the maiden call of the Liberian-flagged 15,413-TEU Maersk Camden recently.

The 365.9-metre ship operates Maersk's AC2 service, which connects the Asia and Latin America markets through the Ports of Lazaro Cardenas, Guayaquil, Balboa, Manzanillo, Shanghai, Ningbo and Busan.

The AC2 service has been running since 2020 and has 21 vessels deployed with 9,500-TEU capacities.

According to ICTSI, the vessel's calling highlights the Port of Guayaquil's significance to Ecuador's foreign trade and demonstrates CGSA's capability in handling the largest container vessels operating in the Asia-Americas trade routes.

CGSA recently introduced Port to Door, an automated cross-docking service that allows customers to receive their cargo directly at their doorsteps, according to London's Port Technology.
