SOUTH Carolina Ports (SC Ports) has handled over 2.4 million TEU and 1.3 million pier containers so far in the fiscal year 2023 (July 2022 - June 2023).

In May, SC Ports handled 198,824 TEU and 110,834 pier containers. Container shipments are down roughly 22 per cent year on year as a result of the tightening economy. Imports are falling as individuals spend less on products, but exports are rising, with a four per cent increase year on year.

In May, SC Ports processed 20,026 vehicles for worldwide automakers at Columbus Street Terminal, translating to a 14 per cent growth year on year.

SC Ports' two rail-served inland ports, which transfer cargo via rail between the Port of Charleston and interior markets, saw strong volumes.

Inland Port Dillon had another record-breaking month in May, processing 4,415 rail transfers, a 138 per cent increase over the same month last year, while Inland Port Greer had handled 14,931 rail shipments, up 4 per cent year on year.
