THE sixth and final 13,000-TEU LNG dual-fuel containership, constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China, has been delivered to the French shipping company CMA CGM, reports Rotterdam's Offshore Energy.
Named the CMA CGM Amazonia, the ship was handed over on August 23, marking the conclusion of Hudong-Zhonghua's shipbuilding project for CMA CGM.
Like its sister ships, CMA CGM Amazonia measures 336 metres long and 51 metres in width. Its designed service speed is 21 knots, and its maximum cargo capacity is 13,200 TEU.
An LNG dual-fuel system powers the vessel and features a new generation intelligent control exhaust gas recirculation (ICER) system, capable of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 28 per cent.
In addition, the containership is equipped with a large wind deflector at the bow, saving two to four per cent of fuel consumption during operation.
