CMA CGM unveils Suez return on India-Med service

Author:   Posttime:2025-06-03

CMA CGM has resumes transits via the Suez Canal for its India-Middle East-Mediterranean (MEDEX) service, reports New York's Journal of Commerce.

The Marseille-based carrier is the first among major liners to confirm a routing change back to the traditional Suez Canal passage, despite ongoing industry concerns about Red Sea security.

According to new schedule data, the first vessel to take the Suez route will be CMA CGM Palleas, departing Nhava Sheva on June 7 and transiting the canal on June 28. CMA CGM Nabucco and CMA CGM Titus are scheduled to follow in early July.

The MEDEX service includes 10 CMA CGM vessels with co-loading by Cosco Shipping under a weekly slot charter agreement covering around 1,000 TEU out of India, including Colombo.

Sources at both CMA CGM and Cosco confirmed the resumption of the Suez rotation, indicating a shift back to pre-conflict routing despite residual geopolitical risks.
