FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has been chosen by industry stakeholders, customers and global shippers as the leading ocean carrier on the Asia-Europe trade lane.
The carrier was presented with the award at the 2020 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) held recently in Hong Kong.
Currently, CMA CGM carries cargo between the two continents through seven weekly Asia-Europe services. CMA CGM is, in particular, associated with its French Asia Line 1 (FAL1) service that links Asia, Spain, North Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
In September, the CMA CGM Jacques Saade, the world's largest containership to be fully powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) was phased into the FAL 1 service. The mega vessel is the first of the Group's nine 23,000-TEU LNG vessels to enter commercial operations, facilitating trade flows between Asia and Europe both efficiently and sustainably.
Stephane Courquin, CEO of CMA CGM Asia Pacific Limited, said: "The award marks a symbol of excellence in CMA CGM's service quality and reliability, innovative drive and customer-centricity focus.
"With Asia-Europe being our stronghold market, this accolade is all the more meaningful to the CMA CGM Group. We will continue to raise the bar of our services and solutions to meet the varied needs of our shippers and keep their supply chains going."
