        继为Nexans船东旗下“Aurora”号海底电缆敷设船交付设备之后,Ulstein Verft造船厂又与Red Rock公司签订合同,为Nexans公司新型电缆敷设船(CLV)提供升级版起重机套件。

Ulstein Verft and Nexans return to Red Rock for crane package

Following the delivery of equipment for Nexans Aurora, Ulstein Verft has awarded Red Rock with another contract to provide an upgraded crane package for Nexans’ new cable-lay vessel (CLV).

The new CLV will have a deck capacity of 10.000t of cable, an under-deck capacity of 3.500t cable, and will be one of the world’s most advanced cable layer vessels. It will be 31 meters wide, 149.9 meters long, and will be able to accommodate a crew of 90.

In addition to the upgraded crane package, Red Rock will also deliver two work baskets, at the stern, with a common hydraulic power unit.

The products are set to be delivered in 2025.

“Red Rock is proud and excited to be part of the new Nexans CLV. A repeat order from Ulstein Verft for the new vessel shows that the custom made Red Rock products is a good fit for an advanced vessel as this one,” said Red Rock’s Sales Manager Bjørn Mossestad.

Nexans placed an order with Ulstein Verft for the construction of the new CLV in September 2023. The company then stated that the new vessel would build upon the cutting-edge technology featured on the flagship vessel Nexans Aurora, but with improved design, comfort and capabilities.

The DP3 vessel will be able to carry out the transport and laying of various types of subsea cables, including cable bundles as well as recovery and repair.

Palfinger has been hired to provide a comprehensive equipment package for the vessel, while Italian company Remacut, part of NOV, will deliver the cable-lay equipment.
